Guided Meditations
The Practice of Presence
Welcome. As we begin this journey together, take a moment to acknowledge the present—the sacred space where healing, peace, and transformation reside. In this moment, nothing else matters. There is only here, only now. Let us embark on this journey into presence with a deep breath, a calm heart, and a mind open to the infinite possibilities of the present moment.
Sample Meditation
-
Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down. Allow your body to relax, releasing any tension you may be holding. As you settle into this space, gently close your eyes.
Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely. Hold it for a moment. And now, exhale softly through your mouth, letting go of any tension or worry. Do this two more times, breathing in deeply and exhaling fully.
With each breath, feel yourself becoming more anchored in the present. Let the outside world fade away, along with any thoughts or concerns that may have been weighing on your mind.
Now, simply observe the rhythm of your natural breath. No need to change it. Just notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest and abdomen. Feel the air entering your body, nourishing you with each inhale, and gently leaving your body with each exhale.
-
As your breath continues to flow effortlessly, bring your awareness to your senses. Notice the sensation of your body where it touches the surface beneath you. Feel the weight of your body being fully supported, the texture of the fabric or ground beneath your hands.
Listen to the sounds around you, both near and far. Notice how they simply exist, without needing your attention or judgment. Let them be as they are—a part of this moment, just like your breath.
Now, focus on the air as it touches your skin. Feel its coolness or warmth. Notice how the air moves around you, caressing your face, your hands. Allow your senses to fully awaken, not grasping for any particular sensation, but simply allowing yourself to experience what is already present.
-
In this moment, you are invited to let go of the concept of time. There is no past, no future—only this breath, only this moment. Imagine that time has dissolved, and all that remains is the eternal now.
With each inhale, feel yourself becoming more rooted in the present, more connected to the here and now. With each exhale, release any attachment to past memories or future expectations. Let them drift away like clouds, leaving behind only the clear, open sky of your awareness.
As you breathe, repeat silently to yourself:
"I am here. I am now. I am present."
Feel the truth of these words resonate within you. -
Now, allow yourself to rest in the stillness of this moment. There is no need to do anything or to be anywhere. Simply be.
In this stillness, there is peace. In this peace, there is healing. Allow yourself to fully experience the stillness, the spaciousness that exists within you and around you. This is the essence of presence—the pure awareness that underlies all things.
If thoughts arise, simply notice them without attachment. Let them come and go, like waves on the ocean. You are the stillness beneath the waves, the unchanging presence that witnesses all experience without judgment.
-
Now, gently expand your awareness outward. Feel the connection between yourself and the world around you. Sense the earth beneath you, supporting you. Feel the vastness of the sky above you, limitless and free. In this moment, you are a part of everything, and everything is a part of you.
As you breathe, feel the energy of the universe flowing through you, connecting you to all living beings, to the rhythms of nature, and to the flow of life itself. You are not separate from the world—you are intricately woven into the fabric of existence.
Allow this awareness to fill you with a sense of peace, gratitude, and wonder. The present moment is your home, a sanctuary where you are always safe, always supported.
-
As we begin to bring this meditation to a close, know that the presence you have cultivated here is always available to you. It is a constant, unwavering companion, guiding you through life’s ups and downs with calm and grace.
Gently begin to deepen your breath, feeling the life force filling your body with each inhale. Wiggle your fingers and toes, slowly bringing movement back into your body. When you feel ready, gently open your eyes.
Before you move, take a moment to sit quietly, reflecting on the peace you’ve found in this practice. Carry this presence with you throughout the rest of your day, knowing that you can return to this sacred space of now, whenever you choose.
Closing Thought
Remember, the present moment is where all healing and transformation take place. In each moment of presence, you reconnect with your true self—the self that is always whole, always at peace, and always in harmony with the universe.
You are here. You are now. You are present. And in this presence, you are infinite.
